Ashish Sharma is a popular Indian television and film actor, well recognised for his roles of Major Rudra Pratap Ranawat in the Colors TV show "Rangrasiya", of Chandragupta Maurya in NDTV Imagine"s "Chandragupta Maurya" and Lord Rama in STAR Plus" "Siya Ke Ram".
Early Life and Education of Ashish Sharma
Born on August 30, 1984 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, Ashish Sharma completed his schooling from India International School and then pursued a degree in Fashion Designing from the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Ashish had been engaged in theatre since his school days, always participating in cultural programmes. Later in college, he was an active participant in dramatics and post graduation, he joined a theatre group run by Vijay Mathur. He also wanted to join the National School of Drama, Delhi, but was dissuaded by everyone.
Career of Ashish Sharma
Ashish Sharma began his acting career with Dibakar Banerjee"s 2010 Hindi film "Love Sex Aur Dhokha", on recommendation of Anupam Kher, playing the role of Shahid. He also played the lead in "Undertaker", which got selected for the Los Angeles Film Festival. He then bagged the role of male lead Avdhesh Singh in NDTV Imagine"s TV series "Gunahon Ka Devta", making his debut on Indian television. He was next seen playing the title role of Chandragupta Maurya in the historical drama series "Chandragupta Maurya", which garnered him much fame. He was also seen playing the male lead in Zee TV"s daily soap opera "Rab Se Sohna Isshq", Indian television"s first ever cross-continental serial. He then played the role of Major Rudra Pratap Ranawat in Colors TV"s "Rangrasiya", opposite Sanaya Irani. He was recognised for his work in the soap with the ITA Award for GR8! Performer of the Year at the Indian Television Academy Awards, 2014. "Rangrasiya" has also been dubbed in Turkish as "Sensiz Olmaz".
In 2014, Ashish participated in the 7th season of the dance reality show "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa", and eventually won the contest along with his choreographer Shampa, winning the prize money of Rs.30 Lakhs and a Mahindra XUV along with the trophy. He beat the other three finalists Karan Tacker, Mouni Roy and Shakti Mohan. He was then seen hosting the series "Tujhse Naaraz Nahin Zindagi", a non-fiction show which aired on &TV, where he was seen as a Radio Jockey of &TV FM where people talked about their inspiring stories. He is being subsequently seen in Nikhil and Suhana Sinha`s Triangle Films mythological show "Siya Ke Ram" that airs on STAR Plus, as the male lead Rama, alongside Madirakshi Mundle who plays Sita. His role in "Siya Ke Ram" also garnered him the STAR Parivaar Award for Favourite Beta at the STAR Parivaar Awards 2016. He is also currently hosting Life OK"s mythological series "Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti".
