One of the Vedic deities of the early times is Aryaman. Literally, his name means a `bosom friend`, but he is often confused with `the protector of the Aryans`. He is one of the sons of Aditi and Kashyapa, i.e. an Aditya, a solar deity. Hypothetically, he is considered as the chief of the manes and his path has been supposed to be the `Milky Way`. Aryaman is the other name of Surya or the Sun God. Actually, Arya means `an honourable or respectable man`. This is the actual and original Sanskrit term, which has been corrupted over time.
