Art of GatkaArt of Gatka incorporates the technique of Gatka. The game, in its physical form, is the original feudal art of the Saint Soldiers "Khalsa", for whom the way of life is the same as the art of war. Gatka has an independent entity in the Indian state of Punjab, and it is also a way of life for people in the state. The proper balance of fighting skills, religion, healing and philosophy are the elements which help to consolidate into this great martial art from. Any form of martial art tradition "Bir Bidiya" belief, skill or art that is not helpful to both the exponent and society is not martial art at all. For it to be called a martial art form it must exist three major component; Disciplined training, A moral philosophy and Dedication and a sense of duty and respect, where a balance and understanding of both cultural and martial ways is established.

With the help of its own evolution and efforts by various groups of instructors and schools (Akhara`s) around the globe, it has progressed through the years to its present position as a martial art of great bravery. In theory though, the methods and techniques have been handled down through the centuries and today have been moulded into an art from with all of the history and action of the past contained within its present training. It is actually practised in a way that it proves useful at any given point of time and is taught in a way that is useful in all given fields of duty.

The spiritual attributes of this art are filled with understanding that one is taking part in an art developed by spiritual warriors who possessed great courage, integrity and honestly - the traditional and principle idea as laid down by great saints, bhagats, peers of various religious faiths and Sikh gurus off and during the emergence of Sikh religion. The martial mind, the regulation, the focus of truth, all elements of the mind, the principles laid down for the warriors, mankind and practitioner is that the personality of oneself is a temporary alliance of desires and wants, (artificial pleasure) and that life itself is no more than dream or illusion. One can only aspire to no great heights than to gloriously die for truth.
