He is considered as a one of the most valued successor of I.M. Vijayan, who was the former Indian Football Captain. In the 28th Federation Cup football tournament at the Salt Lake Stadium there was a game between Goa giant Dempo SC and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangaluru. The HAL was defeated by a solitary goal in a pre-quarterfinal encounter by striker Anthony Pereira. The decisive goal was scored in the 25th minute of the match.
