Anil Biswas, Indian Music ComposerAnil Biswas is a well known Bollywood distinguished music composer born on 7 July 1914. He was popular for his innovative use of orchestra. Anil Biswas has created such timeless melodies as "Dil Jalta Hai To Jalne De" (Pehli Nazar), "Tumhare Bulane Ko Ji Chahta Hai" (Laadli) and "Ae Dil Mujhe Aisi Jagah Le Chal" (Arzoo). Anil Biswas was born in Barisal (now in Bangladesh) and had a keen interest in music from an early age. During his youth Anil Biswas became involved in the Indian national movement as a revolutionary and was repeatedly jailed.

Career of Anil Biswas
Anil Biswas`s initial work was with composer-songwriter Kazi Nazrul Islam at the gramophone company, Megaphone. He also acted in and scored music for a number of stage productions in Kolkata. Director Hiren Bose was instrumental in bringing Anil Biswas to Mumbai. Here he joined Ram Daryani`s Eastern Art Syndicate followed by Sagar Film Company.

Anil Biswas, Indian Music Composer Biswas made his film debut as a music composer with `Dharam Ki Devi`, in which he also acted. With Sagar, he worked on successful films as `Jagirdar`, `Hum Tum Aur Who` and `Gramophone Singer.` His association with the studio continued even when it merged with Fazalbhai`s Film City and General Films to become National Studio. Director Mehboob Khan`s classic drama Roti was one of Anil Biswas`s important films of the period.

In 1942, Anil Biswas joined Bombay Talkies; one of his biggest successes at the studio was director Gyan Mukherjee`s hit film, `Kismet.` The film featured, among others, the popular patriotic song Door Hato Ae Duniya Walon, Hindustan Hamara Hai. His other films for Bombay Talkies include `Hamari Baat`, `Milan`, and `Jwar Bhata`, the debut film of actor Dilip Kumar. "Anil Da," as Biswas was affectionately called, then broke away from studio affiliations and began operating as a freelance music composer. His important later films include `Munna`, `Waris`, `Char Dil Char Raahein` and `Angulimala.` The last film that he composed music for was Motilal Rajvansh`s National Film Award winning feature film `Chhoti Chhoti Baatein.` He then shifted to Delhi and began working for All India Radio.

Awards and Honours of Anil Biswas
Anil Biswas has won several awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Creative Music (1986). Apart from making several laudable innovations in film music, he has been credited with having introduced such singers as Mukesh and Talat Mahmood into the Hindi film industry. Anil Biswas also collaborated with singer Lata Mangeshkar to produce such classics as "Intezar Aur Abhi" (Char Dil Char Raahein), "Badli Teri Nazar" and several others.
