Andhra Medical College (AMC), started its operations as a medical college on 19th July, 1923 and it is considered to be one of the oldest medical institutions in Vishakhapatnam. It is also one of the premier medical colleges in the city of Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. The motto of the college is "Ne Quid Nimis" that means "Let there be nothing in Excess". The history of the AMC traces back to the year 1902, when the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Medical School was set up with support from Maharaja Goday Narayana Gajapati Rao and Maharani Lady Goday Chittijanakiammah. The medical school was commissioned as Medical College, Vishakhapatnam and started its operations on 1st July, 1923; however, it was formally opened on 19th July, 1923.

There are departments of Basic Sciences, Para clinical Departments and Clinical Departments in the AMC and the departments include, Anaesthesiology, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental Surgery, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Forensic Medicine, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Medicine, Microbiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nuclear Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatrics, Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Social and Preventive Medicine, Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases and Urology.

There are a number of teaching hospitals attached to the Andhra Medical College (AMC), Vishakhapatnam, where the students can go and attend their classes in the various departments of the teaching hospitals as per their educational requirements. The teaching hospitals of AMC include the King George Hospital, Government Victoria Hospital, Government Hospital for Mental Care, Rani Chandramani Devi Hospital, Government Hospital for Chest and Communicable Diseases, Regional Eye Hospital, and also the ENT Hospital. The AMC administration is also working hard for constructing some Super Specialty Blocks within King George Hospital, for further benefitting its students.
