He is an actor trained in the National School of Drama and is presently working in television and films. He has been inspired by the big names of filmdom including Naseeruddin Shah, Amitabh Bachhan, Pankaj Kapoor and many more. The main inspiration of his work is Aatish Kapadia who is the writer and the director of the popular scripts of Khichdi, Instant Khichdi and Baa Bahu Aur Baby.

In both the serials `Khichdi` and `Instant Khichdi` he was playing the affectionate Babuji. The performance in the later one has also earned him one of the happiest moments of his life that of winning the title `Favorite Dadaji` in Star Parivar awards for two consecutive years. Again in the serial India Calling he plays the lovable grandfather who plays Cupid between the main protagonist of the serial Chandni and her beloved Adi.

In this serial he portrays the character of Adi`s grandfather and if there is a misunderstanding between Adi and Chandni, he gives all the tips and tricks to patch up with her. He in his youth has faced these kinds of situations and knows how well to deal with them. Again in the popular afternoon daily Kumkum he plays the character of Ashwin Vanjera, a scheming lawyer and is seen engaged in a court battle with the protagonist Wadhwa family. In this serial he will also use the Wadhwa family`s elder daughter-in-law against her own family. Again in the serial Woh Rehne Walli Mehlon Ki he plays the role of Mr. J. Thappar, the father of Prince Thappar. He is portrayed as the rich business tycoon whose personality is well loved by the audiences.

According to the fan following of Anang Desai, any kind of roles, whether positive or negative, comedy or tragedy he carries out with equal vigour and gusto. He also shares a good rapport with his co-stars on the sets. In fact it likes an extended family to him.
