Amrita Puri is a popular Bollywood actress who has earned much praises for her appealing performances in Hindi movies. She started her acting career with theatres. Apart from acting, she also had a keen interest in acting and had written for theatres. She has also explored the modelling world and appeared in a few television commercials. Early Life of Amrita Puri
Amrita Puri was born on 20th August 1983 in Mumbai to Aditya Puri, who is the Managing Director of HDFC bank. She did her schooling from the esteemed Bombay Scottish School. She completed her post-graduation from St. Xavier`s College in mass communications.
Career of Amrita Puri
Amrita Puri started her career after completing post graduation with theatres where she used to write and act in the plays. Quasar Thakore Padamsee`s English play "Retellings View from the Stage" marked the beginning of her acting career. Scherazade Kaiokobad`s play Retellings was also staged by her. Amrita Puri was also involved in a few other activities, apart form acting in theatres, which included copywriting for the advertising company Oglivy for a year and freelancing for lifestyle magazine. Later she got her portfolio done by Dilip Bhatia and began attending auditions for films and commercials. She appeared in a number of advertisements such as Garnier, People First and L`Oreal.
She got her first break in Bollywood with a romantic comedy flick Aisha in which she played the role of Shefali Thakur. The movie was loosely based on the novel Emma, authored by Jane Austen, and its Hollywood adaptation Clueless. Her performance in the movie received critical and commercial success. After her debut movie, she once again resumed acting in theatres and performed in a few plays including the M.E.T.A award winning plays by Akvarious Productions such as Famous Last Words and The Interview. Her next Bollywood venture was Blood Money in 2012 where she was featured as the female lead. Both the movie and her performance gained positive reviews from critics. In the following year she starred in the movie Kai Po Che! as the female lead which once again earned her appreciations in the celluloid world. The film was inspired from Chetan Bhagat`s novel The 3 Mistakes of My Life.
