Amit Mishra, born on November 24, 1982, in Delhi, is an Indian cricketer. Mishra has got himself trained as a leg-break bowler. Besides, being, a bowler, he is also capable of functioning as a right-handed lower order batsman. He generally bats around number 10 and is an attacking leg spin bowler. Amit Mishra, shot to the limelight, with his dauntless combat against the Under-19 England team that visited India, early in 2001. His twisting leg-breaks, and bewildering googlies, did a great job for him. In 2002, Mishra originally joined the Indian team for a Test match against West Indies, but was not selected. His debut One Day International (ODI) match was against South Africa in 2003. Amit Mishra also plays in the Indian Premier League for the Deccan Chargers team.

Amit Mishra played his first Test cricket against Australia in the 2nd Test at Punjab Cricket Association Ground, Mohali. After Anil Kumble was injured, Mishra got the opportunity. Mishra played brilliantly by taking 5 wickets for 71 runs in Australia`s 1st innings and then 2/35 in the 2nd innings. Indian won the match and Mishra ended up being the leading wicket-taker in the match. He has played a total of 13 Test matches and his total score in these matches is 392, with a highest run of 84 and an average of 23.05. In bowling, Amit Mishra has taken 43 wickets and lost out 1862 runs out of 3497 balls, with an average of 43.30 and economy of 3.19. Amit Mishra also played in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2009, in South Africa. He also participated in the Bangladesh tour and played in the 1st Test, held in Chittagong.
