Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan was the last Nawab of the princely state of Loharu, who ruled over the region from the year 1926 to 1947. The Nawab of Loharu was born on 23 March 1911 in Delhi. He sucessfully completed his education from Aitchison College in Lahore. Later he became a Member of the Chamber of Princes and eventually served in the Indian Army after the Indian independence. Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan participated in the Liberation of Portuguese India (Goa) in the year 1961. The former Nawab was also appointed as the leader of the regional Indian National Congress party and was also a member of the Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan (MLA). From the year 1967 to 1976, he served as the Minister Public Works Department, Government of Rajasthan.
Nawab Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan of the princely state of Loharu was appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh in 1977 and served the position till 1981. He also served as the Governor of Punjab from 1981 to 1982. He donated the much valued and esteemed library collection of the royal family to the Raza Library in Rampur. Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan died at the age of 72 on 12 June 1983 at New Delhi, after a reign of 57 years.
Personal Life of Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan
Amin Ud-din Ahmad Khan was married thrice, first to Shahzadi Sultan Begum, later to Saira Begum and was lastly married to Shaukat Jehan Begum. He had a daughter named Mah Bano Begum, with his first wife Shahzadi Sultan Begum. Amin Ud-din had another daughter named Shah Bano Begum with his second wife. Shaukat Jehan Begum and the Nawab of Loharu had 2 sons and a daughter, namely Alauddin Ahmad Khan II, Alauddin Ahmad Khan II (also known as Durru Mian) and Noor Bano.
