Ambi and Ambalika are the two sisters of Amba, who were the widowed wives of Vichitravirya. The Vysa Muni is said to have begot Dhritarashtra and Pandu from Amablika and Ambi. The first son of Ambalika Dhritarashtra was blind and Pandu had a pale complexion. When, the mother-in-law of Ambalika wanted her to have another son, she sent her maid in her dress. She had given birth to another son, who was named Vidura.
