The festival is organised in Alwar which is located in the Rajasthan state of India. Alwar is situated in the foothills of the Aravallis, is the Gateway of Rajasthan. Alwar is often referred to as the "land of tigers".

Alwar festival offers a chance to showcase the folk culture, audio, handicrafts and colourful traditions of the place.

`Shilp Gram` or handicraft village is organized through the Alwar Collector and chairman with the festival committee to showcase hand-made goods and laying a tension onto market the manual skills. Most important focus is to improve tourism activities in Alwar and also the rural activities of the local people.

Attractions of Alwar Festival
The festival is held in Magh month of Hindu calendar or in the month of February as per the English calendar. It is initiated by using the huge procession by means of the streets of the city. The various activities and events organised during the three-day-celebration include elephant polo, fancy gown and sketching competitions for the young children.

Alwar festival also emphasises a lot on the rural activities of the local people thus providing a true picture of the place. The exotic, rare and antique things of the region are exhibited. Flower exhibition is another important part of the festival.
