Alisha Chinai, Indian Pop SingerAlisha Chinai, the Indian pop diva, has been ruling the hearts of the audience for quite sometime now. Her chartbusting number `Made in India` catapulted her to fame and since then she never had to look back. She was born in the year 1962 and her real name was Sujata but she became popular across the nation by her name Alisha. She is regarded as the `Indian Madonna` in the later stages of her career after ruling over the industry with her `Babydoll` image initially. The veteran music director and composer Bappi Lahiri discovered this great singing sensation. They together have created magic many times in several films of the 1980s era.

Early Career of Alisha Chinai
At the beginning of her career Alisha Chinoy was lending her voice to many actresses including Smita Patil, Mandakini, Madhri Dixit, Sridevi, Divya Bharti and Juhi Chawla. Throughout the 1990s she was working in many films and delivered chartbusters like `Tere Ishq Mein Nachenge` in the film `Raja Hindustani`, `Roundhe` in the film `Pyar Tune Kya Kiya` and many others.

Alisha Chinaiy`s Rise to Fame
The major turning point of her career came in the year 1996. Alisha Chinoy catapulted to fame with her solo album `Made in India` which contains the chartbuster song `Lover Girl`. For this album she won the International Billboard Award and also the Freddie Mercury award for Artistic Excellence. For some years she did not do much of playback singing. But in the year 2005 she again made a comeback in films with the song `Oh My Darling` in the Bollywood chartbuster `Mujhse Dosti Karoge`.

Professional Career of Alisha Chinai
Since then she has paired up many times with another renowned music director Anu Malik after stating in 1995 that she would not work with him again as he made an attempt to molest her. In 2005 she again created waves in the music industry by coming up with the chartbuster song `kajra re` from the super hit Bollywood flick `Bunty Aur Babli`. For this song she not only earned rave reviews but also won her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. She also received much honour and attention when she won the first place at the International Song Festival `Asia 2004` for her song `Seulement Vous`. It was the first victory for India in the particular song contest.

Alisha Chinai was also seen as the judge in the popular talent hunt `Indian Idol`. She has also made an appearance on the silver screen for the first time in the title song of Vikram Bhatt`s `Mumbai Salsa`. She has also sang for Harman Baweja`s `Love Story 2050`. Her album `Shut Up and Kiss Me` has also made the whole nation dance to her tunes once again. She also plans to bring Milind Soman in her music videos. She is also less critical about the remixes and thinks that they make the number danceable.

Between 2000 and 2009 she recorded mainly with frontline music directors of Bollywood like Himesh Reshammiya, Shankar Ehsaan Loy and Pritam. After her controversy with Anu Malik in the 90`s, she patched up with him to record for a number of films starting with Ishq Vishq, Fida, No Entry, Love Story 2050, Maan Gaye Mughle Azam, Ugly Aur Pagli, Chehraa and Kambakht Ishq.
