Aksha was a son of the great giant demon Ravana. He was later slain by Hanuman. He was the heir to the throne as he had already made himself a name in the battlefield. He pleaded his father to allow him to try his strength with Hanuman.
When Hanuman saw Aksha as his opponent, his heart was filled with kindness. He thought that Aksha was a hero but still a child and it will against his will to slay him in an hour when life seems filled with beauty. So, wishing to spare Aksha, Hanuman leaped to the ground, overturned the chariot with a blow and killed the horses. But Aksha was not frightened with this and he shouted at Hanuman saying that he had done a brilliant job but still not won. At that Hanuman thought now he cannot let him jeopardize his mission.
Hence, Hanuman took the brave Aksha by the feet and threw him down head foremost. Thus, the brave hearted prince of Lanka, lay cold and dead on the ground.
