Akhnoor Fort, Jammu and KashmirAkhnoor Fort is located in Jammu on the right bank of Chenab River. It was started by Mian Tej Singh in 1762 CE and got completed by his successor Raja Alum Singh in the year 1802. The fort was constructed with high fortification walls and bastions and was crowned with battlements. At the corners of the fort, two storied watch-towers are situated, which are crowned by battlements and merlons. The fort has two parts, which are bifurcated by a wall with a gate, which leads to the palace on the southern side. The palace is two storied and its walls have decorated arches and mural paintings.

To visit Akhnoor Fort, one has to first reach Akhnoor. Jammu Tawi Railway Station (25.28 km) and Jammu Airport (32.8 km) are the nearest to reach Akhnoor. Akhnoor lies on National Highway 144A which runs between Jammu and Poonch.
