Akhilesh Yadav is the current chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Lok Sabha member of Kannauj. In the year 2000 he was elected to the Lok Sabha from Kannauj in a by-election. Akhilesh Yadav is the son of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and Malti Devi. Since 2000 Yadav has won three Lok Sabha elections. For the first time when he won in 2000 from the Kannauj constituency in the by elections, he was only 27. At that time his father won in two seats, from Mainpuri and Kannauj. He vacated one in which Akhilesh contested. Akhilesh is credited with leading the Samajwadi Party and in the 2012 elections in UP he brought back the party to power. In the 2004 and 2009 general elections he retained his seat. On 15 March, 2012 he shall swear-in as chief minister of UP.

Early Life of Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav was born on 1 July 1973 to Mulayam Singh Yadav and his first wife Malti Devi. He was born in the Saifai village of Etawah district. Yadav completed his education in Militarty School, Dholpur in Rajasthan. Akhilesh is married to Dimple Yadav (love marriage), they have three children.

Education of Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav completed his primary education in St. Mary`s School in Etawah. Later on he cleared the all India entrance exam and got admission in the Military School Dholpur in Rajasthan. He received his Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, Mysore. Later he did his Masters in environmental engineering from the University of Sydney.

Political Career of Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav has won the Firozabad seat against Bahujan Samaj Party candidate SPS Baghel. He has won by a margin of 67,301 votes. The chief Minister has won from Kannauj and later gave up the Firozabad Lok Sabha seat thus leading to a by poll. Akhilesh Yadav have become UP`s youngest chief minister at the age of 38. He is also an agriculturist, engineer, politician and social worker.

Akhilesh Yadav has introduced many new elements and schemes in the Samajwadi party`s campaigning style. He held numerous public meetings and cycle rallies. He also carried out the RathaYatra in the state. The Samajwadi Party won 224 seats out of total 403 thus being honoured as the single largest party forming the government. His campaigning played a key role in the party`s rise.
