Aji Dam Garden, Rajkot, GujaratAji Dam Garden is situated at Aji village in Rajkot in the Indian state Gujarat. This exquisite garden is spread beside the Aji Dam. It spans over an area of 39000 square kilometres. It lies on the outskirts at a distance of 8 kilometres from the heart of the city of the south eastern bank of Aji dam reservoir. The place offers a serene time to the visitors. The dam was constructed by the Government of Gujarat for supplying water to the city of Rajkot. The maintenance of the downstream area of the dam is looked after by the Rajkot Municipal Corporation.

History of Aji Dam Garden
Rajkot Municipal Corporation had proposed to develop amusement park at the Aji Dam site in the city of Rajkot on the basis of Public Private Partnership (PPP). The objective was to accelerate the implementation and successful development of the iconic tourism projects in Rajkot on PPP basis. This led to the development of Aji Dam Garden.

Tourism in Aji Dam Garden
The region around the dam has been developed as a step garden, bird aviary, zoo and an amusement park for children. There is also a crocodile park where visitors often spend a refreshing leisure time. Winter season is the best for visiting the garden as during this season the surrounding trees blossom wonderfully. Aji Dam Garden is also ideal for relaxation, evening walks and picnics. A number of exotics species of birds also visit the garden. Situated downstream of the dam, the garden is adorned with beautiful flowering trees and plants exhibiting a great variety. Aji Dam Garden offers a pleasant time to the people belonging to all ages. The garden also plays a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance of the city, as the latter has high pollution level due to the presence of various industries.
