Aitareya Brahmana as per tradition is attributed to Mahidasa Aitareya. It is also seldom known as Ashvalayana Brahmana. There are forty chapters in this text which are grouped under eight panchikas. It is believed to have been compiled around 600 B.C. This religious text deals mainly with Soma sacrifices. Duties of a priest also have a mention in this text. It also detailed description of ceremonies of royal inauguration.
