Aishwarya Dhanush is an Indian film director. She is the elder daughter of legendary actor Rajinikanth. She is known for her debut feature film "3" which starred her husband Dhanush. She is a trained classical singer and has occasionally done playback singing. In August 2016, Aishwarya has been selected as India`s goodwill ambassador for the UN Women organization.

She was born on 1 January 1982 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to actor Rajinikanth and Latha Rangachari. She has a younger sister, Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, who works in the Tamil film industry as well.
Career of Aishwarya R. Dhanush
She made her directorial debut in the year 2012 with the film "3", a Tamil romantic psychological thriller. It starred her husband Dhanush and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. The film gained immense popularity even before its release after the song "Why This Kolaveri Di" from its soundtrack, composed by her cousin Anirudh Ravichander, went viral. She appeared alongside the lead cast and composer in the making of the video. In the year 2015, she made "Vai Raja Vai", a Tamil psychological comedy thriller. It starred Gautham Karthik, Priya Anand, Vivek, Taapsee Pannu, Gayathri Raguram and Daniel Balaji. It received mixed reviews.
Apart from this, she has occasionally done playback singing. In 2003, she sang the song "Natpae Natpae" for the film Whistle. It was followed by the song "Un Mela Aasadhan" in the film Aayirathil Oruvan (2010), for which she also worked as an assistant director. In 2010, she worked as a voice over artist for the film Aayirathil Oruvan, where she gave voice over to Reemma Sen. Aishwarya was also seen as a judge on STAR Vijay`s dance competition Jodi Number One in its third season alongside actors Sangeetha and Jeeva.

Aishwarya tied the knot with Indian film actor Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raja (popular as Dhanush) in 2004. The couple is blessed with two sons, Yatra born in 2006 and Linga born in 2010.
