The State of Gujarat is located in the western part of India. It has the Great Rann of Kutch, hills, historic forts and palaces, which beautify this state. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is located about 9 km north of central Ahmedabad in Hansol. Airports Authority of India is the owner of this airport. The passenger traffic at this airport has made it the 8th busiest airport in India. Serving the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, this airport is known to be replaced by Dholera International Airport.
Porbandar Airport
Established in Porbandar, Porbandar Airport is operated by the Airport Authority of India. The airfield of this airport is spread over 278.32 acres. The runway is 4500 feet in length. Its apron has the potential to accommodate 2 ATR 72 aircraft. The military enclaves present in the airport are Naval Air Enclave and Coast Guard Air Enclave.
Rajkot Airport
Operated by the Airport Authority of India, Rajkot Airport is located in Rajkot. The present runway of this public airport is about 5,400 feet in length, but Rajkot Urban Development Authority and Rajkot Municipal Corporation have put forward a plan to increase the length of the airport"s runway to 6,000 feet. It is the busiest airport in Saurastra region and the third busiest airport in Gujarat.
Mehsana Airport
Mehsana Airport is a civil aviation training base located in Mehsana. This airfield was developed in 2007 as a result of a public-private partnership between the Government of Gujarat and a private company namely, Ahmedabad Aviation and Aeronautics Ltd.
Kandla Airport
Kandla Airport is located north of Kandla and Anjar in the district of Kutch. Operated by the Airports Authority of India this airport occupies an area of about 268.2 acres. There are two parking bays for ATR aircraft in the apron of this airport, which measures 90 m X 60 m
Surat Airport
Surat Airport is located in Magdalla, about 11 kilometers (7 mi) southwest of Surat. This domestic airport was constructed by the state government of Gujarat. In 2003, it came under the ownership of Airports Authority of India (AAI). Surat Airport has been provided with a new terminal building.
