Adil Hussain, Indian ActorAdil Hussain is a prominent Indian actor who has proved his potential in both mainstreams as well as art house cinema. He has also worked for theatres, television and a few international movies. The actor got associated with the entertainment world through a mobile theatre in Assam. Apart from being a celebrated actor Adil Hussain is also a visiting faculty at the National School of Drama.

Early Life of Adil Hussain
Adil Hussain was born on 5th October 1963 in Goalpara, Assam. His father was a school teacher. Adil has six siblings among which he is the youngest. He started acting from a very young age when he used to perform in school plays. At the age of 18, he left home to study philosophy at B. Borooah College of Guwahati. During his college days also he used to participate in college plays and performed as stand up comedian. His mimicries of popular Bollywood actors were very popular. As a stand-up comedian Adil worked for about six years and later joined a mobile theatre group. Meanwhile he also performed in a few local cinemas. He moved to Delhi afterwards and studied at National School of Drama from the year 1990 to 1993. On a Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarship, Adil Hussain studied at the Drama Studio London.

Career of Adil Hussain
Adil Hussain, Indian Actor Adil Hussain returned to India in the year 1994 and joined the Hengul Theater, a mobile theatre group in Assam. He worked there for three years and then moved to Delhi. Meanwhile he also continued his training under Khalid Tyabji. He also received training from Shaupon Boshu at Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry and from Dilip Shankar in Delhi. The actor received his first acclamation as an actor in the year 1999 for Othello: A Play in Black and White. The play was awarded with the Edinburgh Fringe First. Adil also worked as the artistic director and Trainer of the Society for Artists and Performers in Hampi from the year 2004 to 2007. He was also associated with the Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts, Hague as a visiting faculty.

Adil Hussain made his Bengali cinematic debut in 2004 with a period drama Iti Srikanta. In the movie he was featured in the lead role alongside Soha Ali Khan. He also enacted in several television shows. In 2002-2003, he appeared in a detective series called "Jasoos Vijay" in the lead role under the production of BBC World Service Trust. Later he also appeared in some Assamese movies. He did cameo roles in Hindi movies including Vishal Bhardwaj`s Kaminey. The actor however marked his presence in Bollywood through Abhishek Chaubey`s movie Ishqiya in 2010. He got his first major role in the year 2012 through the movie Agent Vinod where he appeared along with Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The same year he also starred in Mira Nair`s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Italian director`s Italo Spinelli`s Gangor and Ang Lee`s Life of Pi.

His next venture was a Bollywood comedy flick English Vinglish where he appeared alongside Sridevi. Adil Hussain received critical appreciations at the New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest for his performance in the movie Lessons in Forgetting. His other movies include Blemished Light, Lootera, White Lies and many more.

Presently Adil Hussain resides in Delhi with his wife and son.
