The sheer diversity of birds and butterflies are bound to impress ones imaginative as well as reflective faculties. The Chunchanagiri temple and the pilgrim centre are in close proximity to the Adichunchanagiri peacock sanctuary.
Other fauna seen here includes bonnet macaque, fruit bat, jungle cat, common mongoose and hare. A wide variety of birds and butterflies are found in the park. Rare species of yellow-throated bulbul is seen here. Chunchanagiri temple and pilgrim centre are nearby. A forest rest house is available inside the sanctuary. Another rest house of the Public Works Department is there near the temple. In addition to peacocks, a broad diversity of bird species can be spotted here. The common mongoose, jungle cat, black-naped hare and the bonnet macaque can also be found here.
Adi Chunchanagiri is the seat of the Swami of the Vokkaliga community; this small town is a noted centre of Bhairava Worship. The main attraction here is the Gangadeshwara Temple, Which attracts pilgrims in thousands during the annual Jatra and the Peacock Sanctuary.
