The Adhar Devi Temple is one of these temples that is also known for its architecture and sculptures.

The most striking feature of Adhar Devi Temple is the magnificent shrine of Goddess Durga. Also known as the Temple of Arbuda it has a garbhagriha. Steeped in the legend of Shakti Peeth it is believed that the temple is placed where Devi`s Adhar or Adha Dhar (half of the body) fell. It is often believed that one can see Devi`s hanging body in the place. Accordingly the temple has been named as Adhar Devi Temple which is included among the 51 Shakti Peethas in India.

One has to climb at least 365 steep stairs to reach the top of the temple. Though the journey is difficult yet it attracts the tourists who visit the temple. This is one of the most picturesque sites of Mount Abu which is often enjoyed by the devotees. The temple contains two shrines. In the front there is a huge idol of the goddess. Along with this there is another deity which placed inside a narrow cave. The devotees have to crawl inside to reach the actual shrine which is built on a huge piece of rock. With its rock cut images it is considered as one of the major rock cut temples of Mount Abu. Surrounded by a number of carved pillars along with simple layout this is one of the most attractive temples of Mount Abu. Overall the temple mainly attracts the visitors with its scenic beauty.

Adhar Devi Temple is also known for a number of festivals. Though the visitors can visit the temple at any time in the year but the most exciting moment is during the Navrattis when the temple is heavily decorated and jagrans are conducted. It gives one an unforgettable experience to its visitors. Even if the visitors miss the Navaratri they can always enjoy the evening aarti.

Thus any visit to Mount Abu includes a visit to Adhar Devi Temple which is often crowded with devotees.
