Sophie Choudry is an Indian singer and film actress. She is also a former MTV India VJ and occasional model and television presenter. She has worked with notable music composers such as Rishi Rich, Bappi Lahiri, Biddu and Gaurav Das Gupta. A polyglot, Sophie can sing in several languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Arabic, French, Italian and Spanish. She has won several awards including UK Asian Pop Award for Best Female Newcomer in 2001.
Early Life of Sophie Choudry
Sophie was born on 8 February 1982 in London, England, United Kingdom. She received her graduation degree in European politics and French from London School of Economics. She is a gold medallist from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. She also studied for nearly two years at the "Sciences Po", an esteemed political institute in Paris, France. Sophie is well trained in Western classical music and also learnt Bharatnatyam and Kathak for a short period of time.
Music Career of Sophie Choudry
She kick-started her music career when she was only 12. It was noted music director Biddu, who launched her musical career. In the starting of her career, she lent her voice as a backup singer to playback singers like Shweta Shetty and Alisha Chinai. She started her career as a pop singer with her all-girl band "Sansara" in the year 2000. However, the band separated and she began her solo singing career, donning the videos "Habibi" and "Le Le Mera Dil" in 2001. In the following year, she moved to Mumbai and started working as a VJ for MTV India. She hosted the popular show MTV Loveline, which eventually brought her in limelight.
She released her first remix album Sophie & Dr. Love in 2003 which went on to become chart-topper for six months in India and brake records in the U.K Asian Pop Charts by holding the number 1 spot for 12 weeks. Her next offering was Baby Love and Sound of Sophie which were again hit. Her single "Hungama Ho Gaya" which she released online in 2012 went viral.
Sophie made her debut in playback singing with the Prem Raj directed movie "Ishkq in Paris". In the movie she sang for Preity Zinta in Hindi, English and French and even wrote the French lyrics of the song.
She has also performed for various prestigious brands like Audi, Hero group, icici bank, samsung, blackberry, HSBC etc on the live show circuit. She has also performed at high end weddings such as the famous Mittal wedding in Paris and at various prestigious award shows like IIFA awards, ZEE Cine Awards etc.

Sophie has appeared in various Bollywood movies including Shaadi No. 1, Pyaar Ke Side Effects, I See You, Heyy Babyy, Speed, Money Hai Toh Honey Hai, Shootout at Wadala, Once Upon ay Time in Mumbai Dobaara! Etc. She has also worked in a Tamil film titled Vedi and Telugu film titled 1: Nenokkadine.
