Early Life of Prasoon Joshi
Prasoon Joshi was born on 16th September 1971 in Almora, Uttarakhand. His father, D. K. Joshi worked as a PCS officer with the Civil Service of the State Government and later served as the additional director of the state`s Education Service. His mother, Sushma Joshi, was a lecturer of political science who also worked for the All India Radio for more than three decades. Prasoon Joshi spent his childhood in various north Indian cities like Dehradun, Meerut, Rampur, Chamoli Gopeshwar and Tehri. His parents are classical vocalists and the early life of Prasoon was marked by an artistic environment, academic discipline and rich culture of music.

His writing skill gained prominence since his young age and at the age of 17 he published his first book titled `Main Aur Woh, a conversation with himself` which was inspired by Thus Spake Zarathustra authored by Frederich Nietzsche. His two more books published subsequently marking him as an author. He did his post graduation in Physics and then joined Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, for pursuing MBA. However during his management studies he decided to explore his love for art and culture and stepped forward to establish himself in the arena of advertising.

Career of Prasoon Joshi in Advertising
Prasoon Joshi began his career with Ogilvy & Mather, one of the leading agencies of the world, in Delhi. Over the next decade he grew as a creative star and established himself as the executive creative director of the flagship Mumbai office. He joined McCann-Erickson in 2002 as executive vice president and national creative director. He became the regional creative director of South and South East Asia by 2006. He was appointed as the executive chairman for McCann Worldgroup India and regional creative director for Asia Pacific in December 2006. Prasoon Joshi has been associated with some of the highly acclaimed advertisements including campaigns for NDTV India (Sach dikhate hain hum), the Cannes-winning Thanda matlab Coca-Cola campaign with Aamir Khan, Perfetti (Alpenliebe, Chlormint), Marico, LG and Saffola (Abhi to main jawan hoon). He also has the Happydent television commercial to his credit which has been accredited as the best ad of India till date by the experts. Other brands for which he created award-winning advertisements are Coke, Ponds, Close-up, Cadbury and others. He has also worked for the public service campaigns such as Cancer Patients Society: against tobacco consumption, Anti Child Abuse, Pulse Polio etc.

Prasoon Joshi, Indian Movie Lyricist Prasoon Joshi made his cinematic debut as a film lyricist with Rajkumar Santoshi`s Bollywood flick Lajja which was a critical as well as commercial success. Subsequently he worked for Yash Chopra`s Hum Tum followed by a series of successful Bollywood films such as Delhi 6, Black, Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Fanaa and many more. In 2006 he also became a dialogue writer with another acclaimed film Rang De Basanti. He also wrote the script, screenplay and dialogue for the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag in 2013 gaining huge applauses. He has also penned the lyrics for a number of Indipop albums such as Mann Ke Manjeere, Breakthrough, Ab Ke Saawan and Dooba Dooba Rehta Hoon.

Other Ventures of Prasoon Joshi
In the year 2006 Prasoon Joshi was selected as a Young Global Leader by the Forum of Young Global Leaders which is an affiliate of the World Economic Forum. In the next year he judged the nationally popular reality singing competition Dhoom Macha De aired on NDTV Imagine. In 2008 Prasoon Joshi was invited as the Cannes Jury Chairman and in the following year he was enlisted among the exclusive 10-member Cannes Titanium and Integrated Jury at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. His name was also enlisted amongst the select three-member Core Creative Advisory Committee along with Shyam Benegal and Javed Akhtar for the Commonwealth Games 2010 opening and closing ceremonies. Prasoon Joshi in 2014 became the first Asian to be the Chairman of the Cannes Titanium Jury.

Prasoon Joshi is married to Aparna who is also an advertising professional. The couple has a daughter named Aishaanya.
