Khanderi Fort, Monuments of MaharashtraKhanderi Fort is an ancient sea fortress that is situated in Raigad District in the state of Maharashtra. The island fortification is almost 20 km off the coast of the city of Mumbai. The structure was built in 1660 CE by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire. The geographical coordinate of the site is latitude 18.7042°N 72.8131°E.

Khanderi Fort is the companion fortress of Underi Fort which is also situated in the district of Raigad. It was established in order to monitor and observed the Siddis at the Murud Janjira Fort. In due course of time, the structure lost the military significance. Later in 1837, a lighthouse was constructed in the vicinity of Khanderi Fort. Most of the buildings in the fort premise are still intact.
