The temple in a calm and peaceful environment has a pond in its complex, which serves as a sacred place for "Chhathavratis" for worshipping the Sun. "Chhathavratis" are the devotees taking part in the Chhath Pooja, i.e. Festival of the Sun God. The temple has been decorated with intricate designs. The Sun Temple in Jharkhand is designed with a big chariot with 18 richly decorated wheels driven by 7 lifelike white horses that seem to be ready to take off for the journey.

In the vicinity of the Sun Temple is a sacred pond which has clean water, and people take holy dip in this pond believing that dipping in this sacred pond will purify their soul from all the sins of this mortal world. There is also a beautiful Dharamshala, intended for the devotees and the tourists.

How to Reach Sun Temple
Sun Temple in Jharkhand is easily approachable through the metalled road from Ranchi by hiring a car or catching a bus. The temple is 39 km from Ranchi which is well connected by motorable roads. The route offers some of the finest picturesque locales of Chhota Nagpur Plateau region. It can be reached from Birsa Bus Stand, and private buses and jeeps are also been facilitated from here. The nearest railhead is Ranchi Railway Station and the nearest airport is Birsa Munda Airport.
