Patratu is a census town in Ramgarh district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is located at 23.67degreeN 85.28degreeE. It is positioned at an average elevation of 405 metres.
Patratu Dam
Patratu dam is one of the most popular tourist spot of Patratu. This dam is used as a picnic spot. People observing Chatt puja also gather here. This dam is located 6 km far from Patratu city. The dam was constructed by the Indian greatest engineer and father of Indian engineer "Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya." This dam is about 40 km far away from Ranchi. Since 14 January 2010 boating facility has been started for the tourists visiting this place. This dam supplies water to Ramgarh cantonment area as well as the main reservoir of Patratu Thermal Power Plant (PTPS).
Patratu Valley
Patratu Valley is adorned with rich vegetation, lush green trees, red and violet flowers. The humming honey bees adds splendor to the scenic beauty of this place. The hills stretching along the Pithouria-Patratu are worth watching. The green saal, sakhuwa and bamboos with flowers adorn the Patratu Valley. The jingle of waterfalls and the small streams of water rushing through the stones is a spectacular sight for the tourists.
