The 49th Indian Infantry Brigade was an infantry formation of the British Indian Army. It served from the year 1941to 1945 during the Second World War. The brigade was raised at Bolarum in Hyderabad in October 1941 under the British Empire in India. The 49th Indian Infantry Brigade was initially allotted to the 19th Indian Infantry Division. Later the troops took part in the Burma Campaign and were re-assigned to several infantry divisions during that period.
The 49th Indian Infantry Brigade was attached to the 14th Indian Infantry Division (March 1942 to May 1942), the 23rd Indian Infantry Division (May 1942 to March 1944) and the 17th Indian Infantry Division (March 1944 to April 1944). Eventually, the army formation was again assigned to the 23rd Indian Infantry Division and served under its administration until the culmination of World War II.
