National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is the entrance test that is conducted for admissions to the 3 years hospitality and hotel administration course. Students who are interested in taking admissions at any of the affiliated Institute of Hotel Management throughout the country need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) organized by the prestigious National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) as well as Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology or in short NCHMCT is a self-governing body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. This autonomous Council centrally controls the academics associated with hospitality and hotel administration. It also regulates the structured courses of studies, which are presently imparted at the 26 Institutes of Hotel Management and 10 Food Craft Institutes situated in various parts across the country. All these institutes equivalently follow the standardized course structure and set of courses that are prescribed by the Council for different types of professional degree programmes.
Application Procedure
The interested candidates can get the information brochure and the application form from the Institutes of Hotel Management or Food Craft Institutes. They can also obtain the application form from the designated bank branches that are listed by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT). They need to pay the requisite amount. The candidates can also download the application form from the official website of the Council. The candidates need to submit the completed application form along with the admit card. They should not staple or fold the application form. One thing that the candidates must remember is that the completed application form should be sent only by speed post or registered post.
Eligibility Criteria for National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)
The minimum qualification required for appearing in the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) - Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a pass certificate in the 10+2 examination with English as a compulsory subject under any recognized university or Board. Students appearing in the 10+2 or any equivalent examination are also eligible to appear in JEE conducted by NCHMCT. All the details submitted by the candidate will be subjected to proper verification of facts. If any information submitted by the candidate is found to be false, the candidate`s admission will be liable for cancellation and the deposited registration fee will also be forfeited. Decision of Council in connection with the eligibility of the candidate shall be final. The upper age limit is 22 years. At the time of admission, the candidates also need to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.

Pattern of Examination
The duration of the Joint Entrance Test conducted by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology is of 3 hours. The question paper of this test will be bilingual that is it will be English as well as Hindi. Each of the questions carries 1 mark and this test has the pattern of negative marking. It consists of questions from several sections like
• Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude (30 questions)
• Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30 questions)
• General Knowledge (30 questions)
• English Language (80 questions)
• Aptitude for Service Sector (30 questions)
Syllabus
The students need to prepare as per the pattern of the written test. This test judges the command over the English language, reasoning and knowledge skills and his/her general awareness. However, there is no pre-defined syllabus for this entrance test. The students are advised to follow the sample questions of previous years in order to get an idea.
Selection Process
The national level merit list of the short listed candidates is prepared on the basis of the performance that is the scores obtained in the written test. Other factors like the overall scores obtained in Service Aptitude component and English component along with the age factor determines the selection process of the final candidates.
