The Golden Chariot, a luxury train is fixed on a journey that aims to explore various heritage destinations in Karnataka. This train is also known, as the `Karnataka Palace on Wheels`, portraying the regal grandeur of the state.

Golden Chariot, Indian Luxury Train, Karnataka As the name suggests, the Golden Chariot is set on an enchanting voyage of the state of Karnataka in South India. The train after a renowned world heritage site, the Stone Chariot in Hampi. The insignia of the Golden Chariot promises to take the enthusiasts on a journey through the eternal historical marvels, innate wildlife and serene beaches of the state. The Golden Chariot offers three specific tours Bangalore-to-Bangalore Tour, Bangalore to Goa Tour and Goa-to-Goa Tour. The train completed its first journey on 12th March 2008.

The Golden Chariot runs for a 7-night and 8-day journey, along the boundaries of Karnataka; covering the major cities of Bangalore, Mysore, Kabini, Belur, Hampi, Badami and Goa. Be it adventure, tranquility, romance or religion, Karnataka offers it all. The luxurious `Golden Chariot` train is the fallout of a project treaty between The Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) and the Indian Railways (IR). This train will commence every week on Monday from Bangalore and take passengers on a memorable weeklong ride across the historic tourist-destinations in Karnataka. After halting at even Goa state for a while, the train shall conclude its journey by dropping the passengers back at Bangalore on Monday.

The construction and design of the Golden Chariot and its 19 coaches is inspired by Mysore and Hoysala architecture. Each of its coaches is named after the various dynasties that governed Karnataka like Kadamba, Hoysala, Rastrakota, Ganga, Chalukya, and so on. The on board facilities are looked after by the Mapple Group, providing royal treatment and hospitality.

Plush air-conditioned cabins, with all modern day amenities, like Wi-Fi, LCD television, DVD, satellite channels, private bathroom and wardrobe are all at perfect place. Two restaurants in the Golden Chariot are Nala and Ruchi; they serve gourmet meal for an unforgettable experience. The on board musicians play soul stirring tunes during the evenings; the Gym coach, Ayurveda parlour and spa treatment center are the ideal places to rejuvenate. Madira Bar and its lounge are the perfect resorts to spend the evening. The Conference Coach is a special feature of the Golden Chariot and can comfortably accommodate up to 30 guests.

The Golden Chariot has been taking enthusiasts across exotic locations in the state of Karnataka and creates the nostalgia of age-old splendor and majesty. The best season to tour on the Golden Chariot is from October to March. The average fare of an individual for the entire journey of one week on Golden Chariot is approximately Rs. 1,10,600; however the tariff of the train is subject to change without prior notice and one should look into the tariff chart before booking.
