Mahesh Bhatt is one of the most prominent directors, screenplay writers and producers. Hailing from a film family he knew about the tricks of the trade, the all in all of filmmaking. In 1970 he dropped out of college to join films. His films show an unusual collaboration with psychological damage rising from violation of social norms and situations. Mahesh Bhatt was born on 20 September 1948 to Nanabhai Bhatt and a Shia Muslim woman.
Career of Mahesh Bhatt
Mahesh Bhatt started his career as an assistant director of Raj Khosla. He made his directional debut with the film Sakat (1970) which was followed by Manzilein Aur Bhi Hain in 1974. Then in the year 1979 his Filmfare award winning cinema Lahu Ke Do Rang, starring Shabana Azmi and Vinod Khanna comes.
His first hit film was Arth in the year 1982. In 1987 he started producing. His notable films include Daddy (1989), Awaargi (1990), Aashiqui (1990) and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991). In the year 1993 he made an unforgettable film Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke.
In 1995 he turned to television making two TV series, the English language "A Mouthful of Sky" written by Ashok Banker and the popular Hindi language serial "Swabhimaan" scripted by writer Shobha De.
As a director his last film was Kartoos (1999). As a screen writer he delivered successful movies like Dushman, Raaz, Murder (2004), Gangster (2006) and lastly Woh Lamhe (2006).
Personal Life of Mahesh Bhatt
Mahesh married Kiran Bhatt, in 1970. The couple were blessed with two children, Pooja Bhatt and Rahul Bhatt. His second wife is Soni Razdan with whom he has two daughters. They are Shaheen Bhatt and Alia Bhatt.
