Established in 1994, J.J. College of Arts and Science received the approval of Tamil Nadu State Government, accorded in GOMS1040, dated 10.11.1993 and is affiliated to the Bharathidasan University. It has become a center of excellence of higher education offering courses at undergraduate, post graduate as well as doctoral programs. Under `School of Biological Sciences`, Research Programmes like in Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Ph.D. in Microbiology, M.Phil. in Biotechnology, M.Phil. in Microbiology, M.Phil. in Biochemistry are offered.

J.J. College of Arts and Science has an excellent infrastructure. There are four impressive buildings which stretches out to its sprawling campus covering almost forty-two acres. It has a plinth area of 2,50,000 sq. ft. The college has an array of major buildings of astonishing structure with an aesthetic appeal, spacious and octangular-shaped classrooms, conference halls, deluxe libraries, reading hall, and also administrative offices.

J.J. College of Arts and Science houses a Laboratory Complex. Catering and Hotel Management Department, laboratories associated with various departments like Physics, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Industrial Electronics along with stylish, artistic theatres of Visual Communication have been built within the college complex.

Laboratories and classrooms of other departments like departments of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Gene Technology and also a striking computer centre is an integral part of the Post Graduate Block.
