Saif Ali Khan, Bollywood ActorThe son of actress Sharmila Tagore and cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan was born on 16th August, 1970 and was officially called Sajid Ali Khan. Over time he has successfully established himself amongst the leading actors of Hindi film industry and has showcased his acting proficiency by portraying diverse roles and winning a number of esteemed accolades.

Saif Ali Khan made his acting debut in the 1993 film Parampara directed by Yash Chopra, the film also had Aamir Khan but failed to gain a wide audience. He next appeared opposite Mamta Kulkarni and Shilpa Shirodkar in the box office flops, Aashiq Awara and Pehchaan respectively, but Khan went on to earn Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut for his performance in Aashiq Awara at the 39th Filmfare Awards. His breakthrough role came in 1994 with Yeh Dillagi starring opposite Kajol and Akshay Kumar which was said to be his first major hit. Going through a meander, Saif Ali Khan made his comeback with Farhan Akhtar`s Dil Chahta Hai which had aptly hit the box office bull`s eye. The success of this film firmly established Khan as one of the industry`s most reputable stars. Since then he has given many box office successes such as the 2003 hit Kal Ho Na Ho, Hum Tum (2004) and Salaam Namaste (2005). He won lots of critical acclaim for his performance in a rare anti-hero role for the film Ek Hasina Thi in 2004 and for Parineeta in 2005. In 2006, Khan played the lead role in the offbeat English-language film Being Cyrus and also bagged enormous acclaim for his villainous role in the Indian adaptation of Shakespeare`s Othello, Omkara. The other films that faired well at the box office were Eklavya: The Royal Guard, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Tashan and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. Khan also has a list of hit movies that were a major box office hits like Abbas-Mustan`s thriller Race, Imtiaz Ali`s Love Aaj Kal and Kurban all cling to the latter category.

Films like Kurban and Arakshan followed next which guaranteed his versatility once again. While Kurban typecast him as the terrorist attempting to accomplish the mission of Jihad, using Avantika played by Kareena Kapoor as the sacrifice or "kurban", and Arakshan saw the mind boggling, societal frothy issue of caste based reservation in educational institutions and job sectors. From 2012 onwards, films like Cocktail, multi-starrer movie like Race 2, and zombie-comedy like Go Goa Gone, and Agent Vinod, Bullet Raja and Humshakals, all of which faired decently at the box-office other than Humshakals which was not well received by either the audience or critics.

After a year long hiatus in 2016, Khan returned in the big screens again in 2017 in movies like Rangoon, Chef and the recent 2018 black-comedy Kaalakaandi. He also starred in India"s first Netflix Original series, the critically acclaimed crime thriller, Sacred Games.

Saif Ali Khan plays guitar very well and is also an active stage performer. His troupe including Shahrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Arjun Rampal and Priyanka Chopra went on the Temptations 2004 world tour. The tour was a huge international and commercial success, performing nineteen stage shows across the globe. participated in the Heat 2006 concert with Akshay Kumar, Preity Zinta, Sushmita Sen and Celina Jaitley. Saif is also a social activist who has helped the victims of 2004 Indian ocean earthquake through the HELP, Telethon Concert. He later performed along with other Bollywood personalities at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games. In October 2014, Khan was appointed as an ambassador for Olympic Gold Quest and donated 2 million to help raise funds for the training of athletes.

Saif Ali Khan won the Filmfare Best Debut Award for the movie Aashiq Awara. He next won the Filmfare Award for the Best Comedian for the movie Dil Chahta Hai. Khan won the dual award of Filmfare Best Supporting Actor and Filmfare Motorola `Moto Look of the Year` for the movie Kal Ho Na Ho. For the movie Hum Tum he again batched two awards Filmfare Best Comedian Award and the National Award for the Best Actor. He was also the winner of the Filmfare Best Villain Award for the film Omkara. He also won three Zee Cine Awards and four Screen Awards.

Personal Life of Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan married actress Amrita Singh on October 1991 but the marriage did not work and after 13 long years they divorced in 2004. They have two children, a daughter named Sara and a son named Ibrahim. On 21st October, 2012, Saif Ali Khan had his nikaah ensured socially and culturally with Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor and has a son named Taimur Ali Khan in 2016.
