All India Trinamool Congress is a political party in West Bengal. It was founded on 1st January 1998.

All India Trinamool CongressAll India Trinamool Congress is led by Mamta Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal. It is at present the second largest member of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition. In Lok Sabha it is the sixth largest party with 19 seats.

History
Mamata Banerjee formed the party "Trinamool Congress"(TMC), which was registered with the Election Commission of India in mid-December, 1997. Thereafter an exclusive symbol of Jora Ghas Phul was allotted.

Performance in elections
TMC won seven seats in 1998Lok Sabha polls. In 1999 another Lok Sabha election was held in which Trinamool Congress won 8 seats with BJP. The Kolkata Municipal elections held in the year 2000 witnessed the win of TMC. Again in the year 2001in the Vidhan Sabha election, TMC won 60 seats with the help of congress alliance. TMC won one seat with Congress in 2004 Lok Sabha election. In Vidhan Sabha election of 2006 TMC won 30 seats with Indian National Congress. In 2011 state assembly election of West Bengal witnessed a huge victory of TMC with 184 seats that led to Mamata Banerjee becoming the Chief Minister.
