Universities of Karnataka
Universities of Karnataka have made significant contributions in order to broaden the horizon of educational sphere of the state. These universities cover diverse fields of study. Some of these universities are Karnatak University, University of Mysore and Bangalore University.

These universities have produced several eminent persons, who have brightened the name of Karnataka in the world. Some of these universities are described below.

Karnatak University
Karnatak University is located at Dharwad. It was set up in October, 1949. The university has 48 postgraduate departments. It imparts higher education in the fields of arts, science and social science. The university was awarded "Five Star Status" by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has been acknowledged with the "Potential for Excellence" by the University Grants Commission. The university campus is spread over a land of about 750 acres.

University of Mysore
University of Mysore is situated in Mysuru. It was set up in the year 1916. It is the oldest university of Karnataka and one of the leading Universities of India. The university has 122 affiliated colleges and five constituent colleges. It has postgraduate departments, specialized research and training centers and postgraduate centers, which conduct regular academic programs for students.

Bangalore University
Bangalore University is situated in Bengaluru. It was set up in July, 1964. It is considered to be one of the famous Universities of India. It has 400 affiliated colleges. Over 50 postgraduate courses are conducted in the university, through 41 departments. The university had received "Grade A" in 2016 from NAAC.

Gulbarga University
Universities of Karnataka, Indian UniversitiesGulbarga University is located at Gulbarga. It was set up in the year 1980. It conducts postgraduate courses in various disciplines, through 37 departments. The university has 230 affiliated colleges spreading over the districts of Gulbarga, Raichur, Koppal, Bidar and Bellary.

Kannada University
Kannada University is located in Hampi. It was set up in the year 1991. The university imparts higher education in subjects related to the state of Karnataka. The university offers M.A and Ph. D degrees in field like Kannada literature and folklore, Bachelor degree in disciplines like fine arts and music, diploma in areas like sculpture and music, etc.

Mangalore University
Mangalore University is located at Konaje. It was set up in the year 1980. The university offers various courses in the fields of science, law, commerce and management, engineering and education, through 22 postgraduate departments. The university was accredited with "4 Star" by the NAAC.

Kuvempu University
Kuvempu University is located at Shimoga. It was set up in the year 1987. The university conducts Post-Graduate (PG) programmes, PG diplomas (regular) and an Under Graduate (UG) programme. Within a few year of inception, the university has shown excellent performances in the field of higher education. The university campus occupies a land of about 230 acres.

University of Agricultural Sciences
University of Agricultural Sciences, located at Dharwad is one of the reputed agricultural universities of India. It was set up in the year 1964. Courses in agriculture (like agricultural engineering, agri business-management and agriculture cooperation and marketing), home science and forestry horticulture are conducted in the university. Visvesvaraya Technological University
Visvesvaraya Technological University is located at Belgaum. It was set up on 1st of April, 1998, by the Government of Karnataka. It is the only technological university of the state. The university conducts 25 Bachelor of Engineering and 54 Masters in Technology courses. The university has 212 affiliated colleges.

Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is located at Bengaluru. It was established in the year 1996, by the Karnataka Government. It imparts higher education in the field of health sciences. Medical colleges run under the jurisdiction of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.

Manipal University
Manipal University is located in Manipal. It was set up in the year 1956. It is a part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, an international university network. The university focuses upon multi-dimensional education of international repute.

Karnataka State Open University
Karnataka State Open University is situated in Mysuru. It was established in the year 1996. It is one of the reputed open Universities of India. The university conducts undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma courses in various disciplines.

Other Universities of Karnataka
Some of the other universities of Karnataka are Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Karnataka Women University and deemed universities like Christ University.
