Saraswati Mahal Museum at Thanjavur in the state of Tamil Nadu is an important museum for its storage of valuable objects of the ancient past. This museum was established in the year 1935 as an Art museum.
Today, the museum has in its store an accumulation of varied objects, such as, very important palm leaf manuscripts, Ramayan, paper manuscripts, copper Mahabharat, manuscripts, Gaj and Ashva shastras, and wooden objects.
Apart from these, there are also 1832 Daniel etchings, pictorial bible, paintings of birds, dresses, plate, Shahnama with paintings, printed papers in Devnagary, English of 1803 AD, paintings of plants, maps, drawings and printed books.
The museum welcomes people to visit from 10am to 1pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm.
