KachwahaKachwaha is a name of a Suryavanshi Rajput clan who has placed his domination over several kingdoms and princely states in the Indian subcontinent. Princely states are Alwar, Maihar, Talcher. The leading and ancient most state was Amber, which later on became popular as Jaipur. There are many people who used to spell Kachwaha in different way like Kacchavahas, Kachavaha, Kachhawa, Kuchhwaha & Kushwaha including Kacchapghata, Kurma ,Kakutstha.

Several insights are being available from numerous sources, which rightly depicts the tradition, culture and lifestyle of the Kachwaha. There are near about seventy-one sub clans of Kachwaha. Rajawat, Shekhawat, Sheobramhpota, Naruka, Nathawat, Khangarot and Kumbhani are some of the important Kachwaha sub clans.

Regarding the origination of Kachwaha clan, various legends are popular amongst the people. As has been already mentioned, the Kachwaha has a belonging to Suryavanshis. The Suryavnshis are supposed to have descended from the Surya or Sun Dynasty of the famous Kshatriya kings. To be specific, the descendant of Kachwaha clan, from Kusha , the younger amongst the twins of Rama has been highly acclaimed. .

In the writings of eminent scholars, information about the Kachwaha clan too can be inferred. According to T.H. Henley, the Kachwaha clan is supposed to have originated in an early era at Rohtas(Rahatas) .

There are some scholars who also have established their association with the Mughal rulers. According to them, since the sixteenth century, the Kachwaha acted as subordinates of the Mughal kings. .
