Sudha Shivpuri is a popular Indian television and film actress, most renowned for her portrayal of the character "Baa" in the Hindi soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She was born on 14th July, 1938, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. Shivpuri was raised in Rajasthan and began her acting career when she was studying in eighth grade. After the unfortunate death of her father, her mother became severely ill, thus she took the responsibility of the family and started acting in plays to financially support the family.
Career of Sudha Shivpuri
Sudha Shivpuri worked as a radio artist with All India Radio, Jaipur. She met Om Shivpuri there, who eventually became her husband. Eventually both of them joined the National School of Drama in New Delhi and later in 1964 became a part of the NSD Repertory Company. The couple also formed the theatre company named Dishantar, which produced many significant plays during that time. She acted in some of the plays, like Khamosh! Adalat Jari Hai.
Sudha Shivpuri debuted in films with Swami (1977) and subsequently acted in films like Hamari Bahu Alka, Insaaf Ka Tarazu, Burning Train, Maya Memsaab, Sawan Ko Aane Do, Vidhaata and Sun Meri Laila. She also appeared in various television serials such as Rajni and Aa Bail Mujhe Maar. After her husband died, she began taking up more television projects like Rishtey, Missing and Bandhan. In the year 2000, Sudha Shivpuri appeared in the role of "Baa" in the highly popular soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, which was produced by Balaji Telefilms.
Shivpuri`s other shows include Waqt Ka Dariya, Yeh Ghar, Sheeshe Ka Ghar, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Santoshi Ma, Daman, and Kasamh Se. she also acted in the 2003 film Pinjar.
