Satya Prasad Barua, was an Assamese actor who was born in the year 1919.

Satya Prasad Barua was an Assamese actor. He was also known as a dramatist, director, and scholar. Satya Prasad Barua was born in Aizawl, which has presently become the capital of Mizoram. He embarked on a stage career in his youth and started writing plays while in his 20s. His Sundar Sevi Sangha in Guwahati was among the pioneers to introduce actresses in Assamese theatre. His works Shikha or `Flame` in 1957 and Jyotirekha i.e. `Ray of Light` in 1958 brought him to public attention. They rapidly became standards for Assamese groups. The experimental Nayika-natyakar i.e. `Heroine and Dramatist` in 1975 was translated into English as Cross Fire. Barua has written over twenty original plays, scripts for children, plus numerous adaptations and dramaturgical texts. He has also won awards for his acting.
