Joginder Singh was one of the finest right wingers in the past four decades. He was born on 3rd August in the year 1940 in Delhi. This Indian hockey player, playing in the right-wing position, participated at the 1960 Summer Olympics held in Rome, he won the Silver Medal as a member of Indian National Hockey Team. He has also participated at the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta. He won the gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. After retiring from active hockey, he settled in Kolkata.
Joginder Singh also served as a sports officer for the Bengal Nagpur Railway (BNR), later renamed as the South Eastern Railway (SER). In the local league and the all-India Beighton Cup tournament Joginder Singh coached the BNR hockey team with great success. He died on 6th November in the year 2002 at age 63 after a protracted kidney illness. He was survived by his wife and son.
