Daman and Diu are the smallest Union territories of India. The district of Daman is situated on the west coast of India between the parallels 20 degree 27`58" and 20 degree 22`00" of latitude north and between the meridians 72 degree 49`42" and 72 degree 54`43" of longitude east of Greenwich.

The entire area of Daman and Diu is taken up by two different districts called Daman and Diu. Both these districts are located on the seashore. Both of them have borderlines with the state of Gujarat. The district of Daman is situated close to the place called Surat in the southern part of Gujarat. The district of Diu is located close to the place called Junagadh in the peninsula called Saurashtra Peninsula in Gujarat. The region of Daman is a small region in the Gulf of Khambhat. The region of Diu is connected to the state mainland by a creek.

The total are of the district is 72sq.km. The Daman Ganga River divides Daman into two parts. Three rivers pass through the land. They are the Bhagwan River, the Kalem River and the Daman Ganga River lying in between. The district is bounded on the North by Bhagwan River, east by Valsad district of Gujarat state, south by Kalem River and on the west by the Arabian Sea. Its altitude is 12 meter above sea level.

The geographical area of Daman is 72 sq kilometres. Daman is gifted with a pleasant climate all throughout the year. In summer Daman has a cool breeze coming from The Arabian Sea. The maximum temperature is 39 degree centigrade and the minimum temperature is11 degree centigrade. The average rainfall here is 1687 mm.

Diu is a tiny island in the Arabian Sea located near the port of Veraval, separated at the south by a narrow channel. On the South there is a sandstone cliff washed by the sea. The island is connected to the mainland by a narrow channel on the north.

Daman and Diu is linked with two bridges. Diu is bordered by Amreli and Junagadh towards the north and the Arabian Sea towards the other three sides.

The climate of Diu is pleasant throughout the year. The rainy season stretches between June and September. The summer temperature varies from 38°C to 15° C. The winter temperature varies between 20° and 25° C. The maximum rainfall is 63.5 cm.
