Equipments of Archery mainly consists of bow and an arrow. And the archer needs to throw the arrow at the dart board.

Equipments of ArcheryEquipments of archery mainly consist of bow and arrow. Bow is used to shoot arrows and strike targets. Though, in the ancient times the game was used in case of fighting and combating sports, but now it has become a precision sport. This game has become a signature sport of Indian state of Meghalaya. It is an integral part of Meghalaya culture and the festivals are incomplete without archery. The people of the state use bows, made of different type of bamboo, of varied dimension. Special reeds are used for making the arrows. The people in India use Eagle features as metal cap of Arrow. The feathers are interlaced near the neck on four sides. The archery target is made of typical grass species, whose measurement is approximately 8 - 10 inches in height and 3 inches in diameter and it remains attached to a thin bamboo pole at a height of 3 1/2 ft above ground level. A serration is also made at the bottom of pole. When the arrow from a particular player hits below the created mark, the player is not awarded any point. The player, while playing, aim at the target from a distance of 30 meters. Archery is a versatile sport in the sense that it can be conducted as both an individual as well as team sport. The person who plays and practices the game of Archery is called as an Archer. Some of the important equipments used in archery are discussed below:

Bow: A bow is something that is curved or something that bends. Grading of a bow weight is determined by the number of pounds, effort required to draw back an arrow to its optimum limit

Men generally use bows weighing 32 to 42 pounds (14.51 to 19.05 kg) and women use bows which weigh 26 to 34 pounds (11.79 to15.42 kg).

Arrow: Old arrows used to be made of wood but modern arrows are made of aluminium alloys, aluminium carbon or fibreglass tubing furnished with a steel point (Pile). Their weight is generally less than 28 g. The notch or nocks are moulded out of nylon. The vanes (fletching) numbering three or four are made from wing feathers of turkeys and are usually dyed in various colours. These may be cut out of plastic also.

Other Equipment: Following equipments may be used for archery other than bow and arrow:
(a) Glove for the drawing hand.
(b) Finger stalls or tape used for protection.
(c) Ordinary glove for the bow hand.
(d) Visual aids like field glasses may be used to spot an arrow.
(e) Sun glasses and correcting eye glasses may be used but they must not be used to assist aiming.
(f) Among the other accessories are: Belt quiver (case to carry arrow), Bracer and Dress shield.

Dress
The competitors may wear any comfortable dress for the competition. But they must wear target numbers on their backs.
