Diamond Harbor is located in the delta region of Kolkata. It is actually situated at the juncture where the Ganga turns south before it reaches the sea. In the olden days, this place was known by the name of Hajipur, which was later transformed into Diamond Harbor by the British. This place was very notorious for haunted by the Portuguese pirates, since this used to be the halting place for the ocean going ships. These pirates often raided the area, which created unnecessary chaos among the people. Over the years this place has emerged as an attractive tourist destination with many adventurous packages for them.
