Soumili Biswas is a Bengali film and television actress and classical dancer. She is also known for modeling and TV anchoring. Her first feature film "Alo" was released in 2003. She gained popularity after essaying the role of Goddess Durga in the mythological series "Durge Durgatinashini". She has also anchored various television shows. She is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She regularly performs classical dances in Kolkata and other parts of India. She has earned Sangeet Ratna and Sangeet Bibhakar award in Bharatnatyam.
Early Life and Education of Soumili Biswas
She was born on September 29 in Barisha/ Behala, in south Kolkata. She attended Vidya Bharati Girl`s School in Behala, Kolkata. She received her graduation degree in Economics from Jogamaya Devi College, Kolkata. She started training in Bharatnatyam from about the age of three under the patronage of Thankamani Kutty. Later she learnt ballet from Mamata Shankar.
Movie Career of Soumili Biswas
She made her debut with the Tarun Majumder directed film "Alo" in 2003. The movie starred popular Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta and Soumili essayed a supporting role. Next she appeared in Gyarakal (2003) and Sangram (2005) again in supporting roles.
In 2006, Soumili got her break as a lead actor in the film "Asha". She again got to play lead roles in films like "U-Turn" in 2010 and "Sudhu Tomake Chai" in 2013. Her other ventures include Bajimaat (2008), Agnisakshi (2011) and Teen Tanaya (2011). All these movies featured her as a supporting character. Teen Tanaya was a trilogy based on Rabindranath Tagore`s poem. In this film she essayed the role of Camellia.
Television Career of Soumili Biswas
She kick started her television career during 9th grade with the television serial, Shimarekha. Then she has anchored a programme named "Syllabus-e nei". It was a non-fiction, student-based show which was aired in Tara Bangla. She played the role of Durga in ETV Bangla`s Durge Durgatinashini in 2007. Her other television ventures include Jhum Ta Ra Ra (Zee Bangla), Syllabus-e nei (Tara Bangla), Kon Kanoner Phool (Zee Bangla) and Somoy (Ruposhi Bangla).

She tied the knot with Ayan Ghosh, a banking professional, in December 2012 in an arranged marriage.
