Khechari MudraKhechari Mudra also called `Vyom Chakra` is a yoga position in which the tongue is placed back and up the nasal cavity. This mudra is carried out by placing the tongue above the soft palate and then in the nasal cavity. In the beginning the tip of the tongue touches the soft palate. It is believed to have many positive health benefits but one should not practice it without proper guidance.

Steps of Khechari Mudra

•The tongue is thrust into the gullet, by turning it over itself, and the eyesight is in the middle.
•In order to do it properly the tongue is lengthened by cutting the fraenum linguae, moving and pulling it. When the tongue touches between the eyebrows, then the Kechari can be accomplished.
•With the help of clean instrument, the fraenum of the tongue should be cut a little at that time.
•Thereafter rock salt and yellow myrobalan should be rubbed in. On the 7th day, it should again be cut.
•This should be done regularly for six months and at the end of six months, the fraenum of the tongue will be cut.
•The tongue is turned upwards and fixed on oesophagus, windpipe and palate.

One who sits for a minute turning the tongue upwards, is saved from poisons, diseases, death and old age. He or she who knows the Kechari Mudra is not afflicted with disease, death, laziness, sleep, hunger, thirst and fainting. If the hole behind the palate be stopped by turning the tongue upwards. It is considered that if one drink Somarasa juice by sitting with the tongue turned backwards and mind concentrated then death can be conquered within 15 days. Again if one`s body is full of Somarasa, were bitten by Takshaka snake then its poison cannot enter the body.

Immortal liquor is produced by the fire which is generated by thrusting the tongue. If the tongue can touch with its end the hole from which the juice falls one can drive away disease and destroy old age.
