Bachelor of Home ScienceBachelor of Home Science is an integrated course of three years duration which covers an array of topics and offers an insight into various fields. One can opt for this course in several institutions in India and it is largely under taken by female in our country.

Students successfully completing their H.S.C. examinations from any of the streams, namely, Arts, Commerce and Science can go for Bachelor of Home Science. In order to undertake these courses candidates need to sit for an entrance test, while in some institutions admission depends on the merit of the students with regard to their previous academic record.

Bachelor of Home Science includes subjects as Nutrition and dietetics, Rural community extension, Child development, Textiles/clothing, Interior decoration, etc and after successful completion of this course a student can go for higher studies in any of these courses, i.e. Masters in Home Science.

The scope for a career, after successful completion of Bachelor in Home Science is good and one can choose to work in the field of teaching, research, service jobs like working for maintenance and supervision of house keeping departments at tourist resorts, hotels, catering facilities, restaurants etc. Since this degree is considered to be a pre-requisite for a teacher"s job in a primary and secondary school in India, one can easily get this job some school. The research job includes projects involving the education of specific segments of the population such as farmers, mothers and villagers on several issues.
