Rakesh Roshan, the Indian film director was born in Mumbai on September 6, 1949. He is popular as a producer, director and actor in Bollywood films. Rakesh Roshan`s father was the legendary Bollywood music director Roshan. Presently his brother Rajesh Roshan is also a music director. Rakesh Roshan is married to film actress Pinky Roshan who is a daughter of the noted Hindi film director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik Roshan who is Rakesh Roshan`s son is currently one of the most popular and desired actors in Indian film industry.

Career of Rakesh Roshan
Rakesh Roshan started his career as an actor in the 1970s and has acted in over 70 films. He then set up his own production company FilmKraft in 1980 and his first production was "Aap Ke Deewane" in the year 1980. He made his directorial debut with "Khudgarz" in the year 1987 and went onto direct several box office hits such as "Kishen Kanhaiya" and "Karan Arjun".

Rakesh Roshan, Indian CinemaOne of his films "Khoon Bhari Maang" is also one of the biggest hits. Rakesh Roshan launched his son Hrithik`s career as an actor with "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai". This film entered the Limca Book of Records for the most number of Awards won by a Bollywood Film and was also the highest grosser of 2003. He went on to direct his son twice since, once in the science fiction film "Koi... Mil Gaya" and then in its sequel- the science fiction superhero film "Krrish". Both the films went on to become huge success at the box office.

He is an excellent director who has used every emotion, drama, comedy, thrill, suspense and all the aspect in his films. While acting he was a very apt actor and always tried to give his best. His film "Koi Mil Gaya" and "Krrish" are very popular among children. He has become successful to make first Indian superhero as "Krrish". He is also planning to do some more work on Krrish as this is very popular among children.

In the recent times we has produced a film named "Kites" where the mantle of directorship was handled by Anurag Basu and the film has his son Hritik Roshan in the lead.

His film "Kaho Naa Pyar Hai" has got many awards including film fare awards, Star Screen award, Sansui Film Awards, Zee Cine awards and IIFA best director award. Another film "Koi Mil Gaya" of Rakesh Roshan has won the Filmfare Awards as well as Star Screen awards, Sansui Awards, Zee Cine Awards and IIFA awards. These are all related to film award ceremonies, other than these Rakesh Roshan has also won popular film Awards, many Aashirwaad awards, Anandalok awards, Apsara awards and also other awards. On December 3, 2006 Rakesh Roshan was honoured at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Panaji for his contribution to mainstream cinema. On 11 December, 2006 Rakesh Roshan was honoured at the Global Indian Film Awards (GIFA) for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema over the past 35 years.
