Medical colleges of GujaratGujarat is a State situated in western India and the state houses a large number of medical colleges. The medical colleges in Gujarat are of different kinds and can be divided into different categories like Allopathic, Homeopathic or Ayurvedic. Medical education started in Gujarat long ago, with the establishment of B. J. Medical College (BJMC), Ahmedabad in 1871. After that, many medical colleges were established in Gujarat. Most of the medical colleges in Gujarat are affiliated to the Gujarat University and South Gujarat University. The colleges are mainly situated in the major cities like Ahmedabad, Surat etc.

The medical colleges in Gujarat are affiliated by the Indian government and are recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The courses are offered mainly in the fields like Anaesthesia, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Dermatology, Psychological Med, Pathology & Bacteriology, Pharmacology, Preventive and Social Medicine, Physiology, Paediatrics, Tuberculosis. The college also offers MS in Anatomy, Ophthalmology etc.

Medical colleges of Gujarat Though, the admission criterion differs from college to college; however, most of the medical colleges in Gujarat take admission through an entrance examination conducted in Gujarat. The minimum required educational qualification is Higher Secondary certificate examination (Science Stream) under 10+2 educational pattern of the Gujarat Higher Secondary School Education Board or Central Board of Secondary Education from any school in Gujarat. The medical colleges in Gujarat have been working on achieving their aims and objectives since their inception and they have earned considerable recognition in all over India, as well.
