Early Life of Neela Ramgopal
Neela Ramgopal was born on 25th May in the year 1935 to a family that always attempted to promote the culture as an essential part. The world of music came to open in front of her under the formal guidance of Sri.Sadagopalachari in kumbakonam, south India. Later on she has received training under late Sri. N. M. Narayanan, a family friend as well as a music critic. The illustrious vocalist sangitha bhushanam late Sri.T.K.Rangachary has also imparted training to Neela Ramgopal.

Life In Music for Neela Ramgopal
Neela Ramgopal on a regular basis has been performing throughout in all most all the concerts of India. She has executed at the highly esteemed sabhas of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Kerala and Delhi etc. She in a regular way without variation is performing at the December music festival in many sabhas at Chennai. Neela Ramgopal in order to execute her gayaki has participated in a 16-week tour of the USA. She has also given teaching in Carnatic Music out there. To perform she has also visited UK. She has performed at the Madras Music Academy-Chennai; The Krishna Gaana Sabha- Chennai; The Bangalore Gayana Samaj-Bangalore; The Ramakrishna and Guruvayurappan Gaana Sabhas-Bengaluru; The Swathi Tirunal Sabha-Trivandrum; The Rasika Ranjana Sabha-Calcutta (now Kolkata); The NCPA and some other sabhas in the pockets of Bombay (now Mumbai).

Her rendition of Sri.Muthuswamy Dixitar`s Navagraha Kritis has been recorded by The Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan. In some commercial recordings, she has also lent her voice. Acknowledging her talent All India Radio has absorbed her as `A Grade` artist since the year 1965. As their artist she has executed many programmes. She has performed at the south zone hook up; National Channel Broadcast; National programme of Carnatic Sastriya Sangeeth; A Raga Darshini Programme. The Doordarshan Kendra has conducted their programmes from their studios at Bengaluru; Hyderabad; Chennai and New Delhi, Indian DD National Channel.

To name a few, the best performer award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai; the best performer award from Madras music academy in the year 1983; a special award for a performance in the madras music academy in the year 1997; a title: Gana Prakeerthi" in the year 1983 from the Nagarkoil Trust; a title: Sangeetha Kala Samragni in the year 1998 from the Ramakrishna Gaanasabha, Bengaluru; a title: Sangeetha Chudamani from Rama seva mandali-given away by sangeetha kalanidhi Late.V.Doraiswamy Iyengar; a title: Karnataka Kalasri from the Karnataka state Government`s Sangeetha Nrithya Academy, in January in the year 2000; CMANA gave a memento - a mounted plaque and gold medal-for her "scintillating performance "during her USA visit; the music Academy, Madras awarded a citation with a Gold medal for the best "Pallavi" during their music season in the year 2001.

Apart from being an accomplished Carnatic vocalist, Neela Ramgopal has also made her impression as a teacher. She has always attempted to comprehend all the nuances of Carnatic music through her training. Neela Ramgopal always gives her students fair opportunity by giving them chance to sing along with her at the time of her concerts.

Books Published by Neela Ramgopal
Neela Ramgopal has published a book of 50 Tamil Compositions in Kannada script. The script of the book has also backed up the `Ananya` in their `Arogyadhama` scheme. It is a transliteration effort. She has established an organization for her students named, `Neelambari`. This organization the benefit of the students of music has recorded the 72 Melakartha Krithis of different krithis delivered by Neela Ramgopal. If one wants to empathize the meaning of these Melakartha krithis, then it should be depicted with the Ragaalapana and Swaraprastaram. `Neelambari` has also brought out 2 CDs in a pack containing "RAMA UPASANA" (Rama vibhakthi krithis) - composition of Sri Muthuswamy Dixitar and "NARAYANA ENNIRO"-compositions of Sri Purandaradasa rendered by Smt. Neelaramgopal.
